In 2006, Lars Müller and Dirk Törppe founded CUBE-Personal Drums, initially moving into the unused space of a restoration workshop in Plauen. While Lars Müller delved deeply into the craftsmanship of drum making, Dirk Törppe focused primarily on product design, customer service, and sales. They decided to focus on the manufacturing process of wooden shells made from individual glued veneer layers, as this offered the greatest possible range in shell thickness variations, and joined forces with the team of a swabian shell-manufacturer, which, in turn, was seeking support in product development and sales.

Together, they develop the characteristic-sounding, highest-quality shells specifically for CUBE Personal Drums. In 2011, we gained reinforcements: Ulf Törppe, brother of company founder Dirk, joined us to support Lars in the workshop with his expertise in surface finishing and varnishing. In 2012, the long-planned move to the new company headquarters finally took place. In 2013, in addition to the new workshop, an exhibition and sales room finally opened its doors, allowing interested customers to directly present our instruments and a range of exclusive accessories.

Our shells are manufactured to the highest quality standards from cross-laminated and cold-pressed veneers or wrapped around a metal core. Wood selection, veneer flow, bearing edge, and finish: all of these steps are significantly influenced by the customer to ensure a product optimally tailored to their needs. In addition to our extensive range of accessories, which includes woodhoops, wooden tension hoops for all shell sizes, groove wedges, and much more, we are also experts in the field of restoration and refinishing, and can give your existing sets a new lease of life or customize them to your specifications.
